Membrane Filter Elements

As the inventor of the polypropylene filter element, membrane filter elements have been part of our core service from the very beginning. With LENSER membrane filter plates, you can significantly shorten your filtration process, increase the dry content of your cake and save enormous resources. This is made possible by mechanically squeezing the filter cake after the actual filtration process.

We develop and manufacture:

  • KM bloc - Membrane filter element, standard, welded
  • KM UM bloc - Membrane filter element, empty chamber, welded
  • KM UM HD bloc - High-pressure membrane filter element, empty chamber, welded
  • KM RUM - Membran filter element, exchangeable membrane half
  • KM RUD - Membran filter element, exchangeable membrane half

KM bloc

KM bloc

The recessed membrane allows a more uniform cake thickness and a very good washing result.

Advantages

  • Shorter filtration cycles
  • Shorter washing times
  • Higher dry solids content
  • Even cake thickness distribution across filtration area
  • Higher throughput rate
  • Reduced water consumption
  • Reduced air consumption during blow-drying
  • Superior cake washing/blowing results

KM UM bloc

KM UM bloc

The UM bloc version is characterized by a bar row in the edge area that is stepped to double the nap height. It convinces with a particularly high operational reliability, as the UM membrane also tolerates a squeezing in an insufficiently filled or empty filter chamber.

Advantages

  • Shorter filtration cycles
  • Shorter washing times
  • Higher dry solids content
  • Higher throughput rate
  • Reduced water consumption
  • Reduced air consumption during blow-drying
  • Superior cake washing/blowing results
  • With stepped bar row in the edge area
  • Suitable for repressing into a little filled or empty chamber

KM UM HD bloc

KM UM HD bloc

High-pressure membrane filter elements are characterized by their high load capacity. Thanks to special inlet designs and material combinations, these filter elements can withstand squeezing pressures of up to 30 bar.

Advantages

  • Shorter filtration cycles
  • Shorter washing times
  • Higher dry solids content
  • Higher throughput rate
  • Reduced water consumption
  • Reduced air consumption during blow-drying
  • Squeezing pressure up to 30 bar

KM RUM

KM RUM

Exchangeable membrane filter elements are an efficient and cost-effective solution for maintaining your filter press equipment. In the case of worn elements, it is not necessary to replace the complete filter plate, but only the membrane - the basic body remains intact.

With the KM RUM type, the membrane halves are fixed to the carrier plate by means of clip strips. These designs allow easy and problem-free replacement of the membrane.

Vorteile

  • Shorter filtration cycles
  • Shorter washing times
  • Higher dry solids content
  • Higher throughput rate
  • Reduced water consumption
  • Reduced air consumption during blow-drying
  • Exchangeable membrane for cost and time efficient maintenance
  • Easy exchange of the membrane half

KM RUD

KM RUD

Exchangeable membrane filter elements are an efficient and cost-effective solution for maintaining your filter press equipment. In the case of worn elements, it is not necessary to replace the complete filter plate, but only the membrane - the basic body remains intact.

With type KM RUD, the membrane are fastened in the designated mounting grooves of the basic body by means of clamping strips. Please note that the KM RUD type can only be used as LENSER Mixed Pack.

Advantages

  • Shorter filtration cycles
  • Shorter washing times
  • Higher dry solids content
  • Higher throughput rate
  • Reduced water consumption
  • Reduced air consumption during blow-drying
  • Exchangeable membrane for cost and time efficient maintenance
  • Easy exchange of the membrane half
  • Only as LENSER Mixed Pack

Filtration process

Operation with membrane filter elements differs considerably from classic pressure filtration with chamber filter plates or filter plate and frame systems.

Membrane filter elements, in contrast to chamber filter elements and filter plates and frames, have a flexible filter surface, the membrane. Whereas in pressure filtration the dewatering of the cake takes up a comparatively inefficient process phase, in filtration using membrane technology this is simply replaced by squeezing. By feeding a pressurized medium (e.g. compressed air or water) behind the flexible membranes, they bulge outwards. In the process, the filter cakes in the chamber are pressurized over the entire surface and squeezed. In this way, not only is the filtration cycle considerably shortened in almost all filtration applications, but a higher dry matter content is also achieved.

If it is necessary to wash out the filter cake, membrane technology also offers decisive advantages here. By permanently pressurizing the membranes during the washing process, the filter cakes are stabilized in the chambers. Further squeezing of the filter cake after the washing cycle ultimately leads to an extremely high dry matter content, which is otherwise sometimes only achieved by lengthy dry blowing.
